SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Association of Housing Builders and Developers (Acoprovi) presented the new platform "Building RD", an initiative designed to meet the growing demand for specialized training and employment in the construction sector in the Dominican Republic.
This tool is envisioned as a key element in the national strategy to Dominicanize the construction workforce, promoting the professionalization of local workers and generating decent employment opportunities for a robust and skilled workforce, according to a press release.
It maintains that "Construyendo RD" arose in response to the needs of a market that increasingly requires qualified technicians and specialists. With the support of Acoprovi, this center establishes itself as a bridge between technical training and job opportunities, offering aspiring professionals the chance to enter the construction industry, enhance their skills through academic programs, and improve their quality of life.
The platform connects workers with job opportunities and facilitates access to educational funding, with scholarships and incentives that democratize technical training, thus strengthening the competitive profile of the Dominican workforce.

The event was attended by the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader; the Minister of Labor, Luis Miguel Decamps; the Minister of Housing, Carlos Bonilla; the Director General of INFOTEP, Rafael Santos Badía, among other representatives of the public and private sectors.
The president of the entity, Annerys Meléndez, highlighted the importance of the platform as a fundamental tool in the strategy of Dominicanizing the workforce in the sector.
"Construction in the Dominican Republic should be in the hands of well-trained and competitive Dominicans, and with Construyendo RD, we are offering the tools for more people to join this industry that so desperately needs their talent and that has sustained its growth at the national level in recent years.".
In the context of the platform's launch, the panel "Challenges and strategies for the nationalization of construction work" was held, moderated by Carlos Hernández, in which key issues to boost local employability in the construction sector were discussed.
The event included the presentation of the "Nationalization Plan from Acoprovi," aimed at promoting policies for Dominican labor inclusion in the construction sector. The "First Job Program" and the Ministry of Labor's (MT) job banks, which serve as tools for job placement for new technicians and professionals in the sector, were also highlighted.
Another topic discussed was the formalization of work in construction, in which Ernesto Rafúl explained the challenges surrounding social security and access to labor benefits.
Finally, the topic of dual education was discussed, a technical training methodology promoted by the National Institute for Technical and Vocational Training (INFOTEP). In this regard, the need for training that integrates both theory and practice to meet the real demands of the country's labor market was emphasized.
